Description & Coverage
Description:

Radio interference is a problem that has plagued air communication since its inception. Advances in cognitive radio science help to mitigate these concerns.

Cognitive Radio Technology Applications for Wireless and Mobile Ad Hoc Networks provides an in-depth exploration of cognitive radio and its applications in mobile and/or wireless network settings. The book combines a discussion of existing literature with current and future research to create an integrated approach that is useful both as a textbook for students of computer science and as a reference book for researchers and practitioners engaged in solving the complex problems and future challenges of cognitive radio technologies.

Coverage:

The many academic areas covered in this publication include, but are not limited to:

  • Business models
  • Dynamic Spectrum Access
  • Intrusion Detection
  • Machine Learning Techniques
  • Network Architecture
  • Real-Time Applications
  • Routing Protocols
  • Simulations, Modeling, and Performance Evaluation
Reviews & Statements

This collection describes the architecture of cognitive radio networks, models for managing the wireless networks, security challenges and the efficient use of the spectrum. The opening chapter discusses the four layers of the TCP-IP protocol layer stock in the context of cognitive radio networks. Other topics of the 15 papers include dynamic spectrum access, perturbation analysis for spectrum sharing, optimal RF beamforming for MIMO cognitive networks, computation of performance parameters, and emergency cognitive radio ad hoc networks.
