Digitalization in the supply chain involves important transformations in the relationships between supply chain partners. Studies investigating these transformations underline the need to create and share new knowledge processes in order to achieve successful digital projects that improve integration and collaboration in the supply chain. This article proposes to make a parallel between the stages of the SECI model concerning knowledge conversion and the different phases of a Supply Chain 4.0 project. By using a longitudinal case study, the authors fill the gap on the dynamics of knowledge transformation in supply chain digital projects. Based on a supplier portal project, the case study presented helps to understand how to ensure that the different partners will get fully involved in the digital project. It provides five managerial recommendations for companies that wish to commit to supplier development and knowledge sharing through digital projects.

Effective implementation of strategic data-driven health analysis initiatives is heavily dependent on the quality of the electronic medical records that serve as the foundation from which to improve clinical decisions and, in turn, the quality of care. Although there is a large body of research on the quality of healthcare data, a systematical understanding of the methods used to address the issues of data quality is missing. This study analyzes research articles in health information systems/healthcare informatics on data quality to derive a set of dimensions for understanding data quality. Issues related to each dimension are identified and methods used to address them summarized. The issues and methods can inform healthcare professionals of how to improve data practices.

This study builds on the emergence of new gifting practices using e-hongbaos which are monetary gifts transferred between individuals made possible by digital communication platforms. This is an exploratory study on the impact of these innovations on intra-organizational relationships. Three types of intra-organizational relationships are considered: the employee's relationship with the organization, with the team, and with the manager. The findings of the study indicate positive impacts of e-hongbao at all organizational levels. The authors also identify the varying effects of e-hongbao on intra-organizational relationship outcomes depending on the occasion of gifting, as well as the mode, direction, and measure. Specifically, ‘group' e-hongbao, a gamified group-gift enabled by the digitalization of gifting, has the strongest influence on intra-organizational relationships. The authors discuss the implications of these findings for theory and practice in the workplace and also offer future research directions.

Enterprises trading on the electronic markets are exposed to security risks due to the active use of ICT in several transformation process activities. Realized risks cause particular damage to the enterprises that lack ISMS (information security management systems) or a basic process approach to IS management. In this article, the authors identify similarities and differences in information security management models from various aspects. The scientific article compares the presented models, their essence, goal, focus, and starting points. Based on advantages and disadvantages, the authors evaluate the possibilities of applying models in electronic business, which determines which models can be applied to all processes or only to specific processes of e-business. The representative data set was obtained from a sample of e-commerce enterprises using the Slovak electronic market. Research hypotheses based on scientific assumptions and statistical analysis are verified. The research conclusions provide an insight into practice of ISMS and an information security management system in e-commerce.

In the operation of manufacturing enterprise supply chain, there are lots of conflicts and differences between the node enterprises because of the different demands on the price, quality, cost, and other factors. These conflicts and differences can be effectively solved by negotiation. In this paper, the authors will abstract different entities in manufacturing enterprise supply chain as agents, and present a negotiation mode, and then discuss the negotiation tactics and procedures between the purchasing agent and supplier agent. Next, a practical example will be discussed and simulated for validating the negotiation model. Application of negotiation tactics and models will be helpful for resolving differences and conflicts, and improving negotiation efficiency. That will be used for optimizing the supply chain management, maximizing the benefits, and improving the operational efficiency of manufacturing enterprise supply chain.

The evolution of online shopping started when big players like Amazon began selling all types of merchandise. Customers understood the ease of shopping online, so the trend grew even stronger. It is therefore essential to conduct a study of online shopping usage and the perception of customers during COVID-19, especially in the grocery sector. In this study, approximately 28 respondents from 50 specifically targeted groups were surveyed, and data collection was undertaken through a structured questionnaire. The regression method was conducted to analyze the collected data. Additionally, 5 interviews were conducted to validate and support the findings. Customers definitely preferred online grocery shopping (OGS) services during COVID-19 due to safety, convenience, and government restrictions. The influential factors were very important in this case, like delivery times, good discounts, and the quality of products. Secondly, OGS services were more stable and alert during the pandemic situation, following the government's rules and restrictions. Customers were extremely satisfied with the safety precautions during COVID-19, the assistance provided through helplines for support, and the increased customer reach to make groceries as accessible as other reputable online departments.

This article aims to broaden the understanding of the non-fungible tokens (NFTs) pricing determinants by investigating features, both market- and network-related aspects. NFTs are uniquely identifiable digital assets stored on the blockchain. Ownership is assigned through smart contracts and can be transferred or resold by the owner. The authors analyzed a comprehensive dataset from Signex.io with over 19,183 datapoints on NFT prices and NFT social communities using automated machine learning (AML), a suitable technique to investigate the most impactful factors due to a lack of knowledge on the exact determinants. Findings show that network factors are the most important pricing determinants: Twitter members followed by Discord members. Online communities drive the price of NFTs, but not in a linear fashion. Given the newness of the phenomenon and no agreed upon pricing models, this article contributes by using AML to discover the most relevant determinants of non-fungible tokens (NFT) prices.

The purpose of this manuscript is to understand how the elements of the game apps impact the intention of purchase of a consumer with the mediating effect of perceived enjoyment, hedonic value, and social interaction to derive benefits designed in terms of marketing strategies. Quantitative data obtained from the non-probability sampling via a standardized questionnaire in the design of exploratory analysis was done to examine the effect of gamification on behaviour intention by adopting mechanic-dynamics-aesthetics (MDA) framework. The findings of the research indicated that fun as a sub-element of mobile gamification can significantly affect social interaction, and storytelling has a significant impact on perceived enjoyment. The study identifies perceived enjoyment as an important antecedent of consumer intention to involve gamification. This provides managers and developers to focus on dynamics, mechanics, and proper feedback systems with the emergence of new technologies.

This study aims to examine the critical factors that could influence citizens in their decisions to adopt e-Government services. Based on the review of relevant literature, an extension of the UTAUT research model is developed. Through semi-structured interviews conducted in Indonesia with citizens who have adopted e-Government services, the research model is examined using thematic analysis. Results indicate that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, system quality, and perceived transparency are factors that significantly influence the adoption of e-government in Indonesia, whereas social influence, facilitating conditions, perceived security, information quality, and government encouragement are moderately significant factors. Meanwhile, ICT literacy is the least significant factor in the adoption of e-Government in Indonesia. Such findings are presented in the action priority matrix to offer public organisations with relevant suggestions on how the adoption of e-Government can be improved.

Organizations constantly seek for means of improving their business processes to remain competitive. Recently, much effort has been devoted to business process automation (BPA) projects. However, it has been unclear how these projects differ from traditional business process management (BPM) projects and which critical success factors (CSFs) play a crucial role. This study comparatively assesses how CSFs change for BPA with respect to BPM. Using a survey sample of 139 BPM and BPA experts, the study shows that top management support as a CSF warrants attention for BPM than BPA, while the importance of choosing project methodology significantly differs for BPM and BPA. The comparison between lightweight and heavyweight BPA types indicates that the top management support is relatively less critical for lightweight BPA. The explorative and fsQCA analyses provide insights about the patterns for industries with different IT strategic roles, expert perspectives, and among CSFs. Overall, the findings may help project managers assess the role of key CSFs better based on project focus.

Organizational utilization of information systems and information technology continues to grow in the 21st century, and job stress has become a worldwide problem; but the emotional expression of people differ in diverse cultural societies, and employees need to use IS/IT (IS/IT users) to do their work. Work exhaustion will also increase with the time. Mainland China (the PRC) and Taiwan share the same language and inherit Chinese culture; thus, this study based on job a burnout model and Chinese Guanxi perspective adopts a qualitative research method to collect IS/IT users' data from these two areas. This study has explored (1) permeability as a critical factor of the technology characteristics, (2) that technology characteristics and Chinese Guanxi will influence each other, and (3) that Chinese Guanxi will influence emotional job demands, social support, and personal accomplishment of Chinese IS/IT users. Finally, it has a contribution to both the academics and practice of the job burnout issue.

A long-standing debate exists on whether robots need personality. With voice assistants (VAs) (i.e., Google Assistant and Apple's Siri) as the research context, this study employed the stimulus-organism-response (SOR) model and the theory of reasoned action to investigate how the personalities that VAs display (i.e., humanlike traits and behavior traits) influence perceived risk, perceived enjoyment, trust, attitude to use, and continued usage intention. The results show that when VAs have more humanlike linguistic traits, such as tone and phrasing, and more positive behavior traits, such as politeness and helpfulness, users enjoy using VAs more, have more trust in VAs, and display a greater willingness to continue using VAs. Unlike past studies focusing on technical aspects, the results of this study provide decision-makers with a new perspective, showing that using more humanlike designs and giving VAs unique personalities can build user trust and increase willingness to use VAs.

Artificial intelligent technology is rapidly transforming the fitness apps landscape by applying data mining technologies within given parameters. These wide-ranging AI-enabled services improve user interface and enhance customers' experience when exercising with the fitness apps. The current study integrated the four antecedents—technological functions, intrinsic information quality, perceived enjoyment, and social connection—to investigate the moderating influence of AI-enabled service quality on users' attitude toward physical activity. PLS-SEM was used to analyze and validate a sample of 170 participants. The findings posited that individuals' attitude toward physical activity is encouraged by the (1) technological functions (2) intrinsic information quality, and (3) perceived enjoyment. Further, the moderating role of AI-enabled service positively influencing the attitude toward physical activity with technological functions was also established.

This study compares the dynamic characteristic of Chinese and American energy prices from the perspectives of learning expectation, volatility, persistence, and so on. First, the most suitable learning speeds for energy prices are determined and the energy price expectations are calculated by the learning models. Second, volatility characteristics and Granger-spillover effects among different energy prices and expectations are examined using the stochastic models based on the coefficient significance and DIC criteria. Third, the dynamic correlation coefficients are obtained by the selected stochastic models that have the lower DIC values. Fourth, expectation, volatility, and foreign energy price are introduced into the persistence model, and the persistence characteristics and reasons behind Chinese and American energy prices are empirically tested and compared. Finally, conclusions and suggestions are given based on the theoretical analysis and empirical results.

With the development of the internet, the user behavior and emotional characteristics behind social networks have attracted scholars' attention. Meanwhile, identifying user emotion can promote the development of mobile communication technology and network intelligence industrialization. Based on this, this work explores the emotions of social network users and discusses the public comments on the speeches through the speeches of social network users. After 100 times of training, F1 of the BiLSTM algorithm can reach 97.32%, and after 100 times of training, its function loss can be reduced to 1.33%, which can reduce the impact of function loss on emotion recognition. The exploration is of great significance for analyzing the emotional behavior of social network users and provides a reference for the intelligent and systematic development of internet social model as well as the information management.

The development of digital technology enables advertising information to be pushed precisely to suitable consumers, thus achieving advertising targeting. Ad push timing can significantly impact ad click-through rates when advertisers push targeted ads based on consumers' online behavioral data. By conducting two studies, the authors found that pushing targeted ads before a consumer's purchase resulted in higher browsing intention than after purchase. This process is mediated in parallel by the perceived usefulness of ad information and anticipated regret after browsing the ad. When the purchase decision is irreversible (vs. reversible), or the repeatability of a purchase decision is low (vs. high), the impact of pushing time on consumers' advertising browsing intention will increase. In addition, the cost of decision reversal affects consumers' intention to browse ads. Consumers' intention to browse targeted ads is lower when the cost of decision reversal is high. Consumers' anticipated regret can effectively explain the aforementioned influence and moderating effects.

Previous studies on the intention to use mobile payment were mainly conducted using traditional technology acceptance models, which focus on positive factors and ignore negative factors influencing the intention to use mobile payment in both developed and developing countries. This study is conducted in a newly emerging country, Vietnam – a trusted destination for multinational companies to do business and reposition their global supply chains. With the integration of positive and negative factors into an extended research model to examine their influence on the intention to use mobile payment, the results show that perceived privacy and perceived security contribute to overall perceived risk. Moreover, perceived risk and perceived compatibility are two determinants of intention to use mobile payment. Theoretical and managerial implications are drawn and directions for future research are outlined.

Conventional e-commerce retailers are less advantageous in attracting online consumers than streamers in live commerce. In China, live commerce has gradually become the mainstream sales channel. Based on the push-pull-mooring model of migration theory, this study aims to identify the reasons that urge online consumers to switch from shopping on conventional e-commerce to live commerce, as well as the potential obstacles of such a switch. About 306 Chinese consumers with conventional e-commerce and live-stream shopping experience participated in this study. The results indicate that live commerce's attractiveness has the greatest impact on consumers' willingness to switch to live commerce, followed by dissatisfaction with conventional e-commerce, while switching costs has no significant effect. Low interactivity most greatly impacts dissatisfaction with conventional e-commerce, while streamers' charisma greatly impacts on live commerce's attractiveness, and low familiarity impacts switching costs. The authors analyze the data by gender and occupation to yield additional findings.

The green credit policy has been one of the most important policies for solving resource and environmental problems and promoting sustainable economic and social development in China in recent years. Based on the mediating effect of green innovation input and the moderating effect of government subsidies, in this study the authors investigate the influence of the green credit policy on the sustainable development capacity of enterprises. The research shows that the green credit policy does not improve the sustainable development capacity of enterprises. The green credit policy promotes enterprises' green innovation input, and green innovation input plays an intermediary role between green credit policy and sustainable development capacity of enterprises. Government subsidies play a regulating role in the green credit policy, green innovation input, and sustainable development capacity of enterprises. Based on these findings, the authors suggest that the government, banks, and enterprises make joint efforts to improve the sustainable development capacity of enterprises as soon as possible.

Universities play a critical role in improving the economic prosperity and social well-being of a country. Many countries have invested heavily in higher education and funding university education for their citizens. Does more investment enhance universities' performances? What other factors contribute to universities' productivity? This research used the data envelopment analysis methodology to study the total factor productivity (TFP) of 60 Chinese universities from 2006 to 2016. The study found the values of TFP fluctuated between 0.950 and 1.050 and were relatively stable. Contrary to common belief about productivity improvements, universities with more investment from the Chinese government did not show better performances. Nevertheless, the study found evidence that human resources (e.g., postgraduate-teacher ratio), physical resources (e.g., campus areas), and policy factors (e.g., tenure of the presidents, mergers) have a positive impact on universities' productivity.

Based on resource-based theory, signal transmission theory, government intervention theory, and firm growth theory, this study constructs a model of new venture growth from the perspective of incremental innovation through theoretical derivation and empirical research. The goal is to clarify the mechanism of the role of incremental innovation, government subsidies, and new venture growth. This article takes the GEM-listed enterprises from 2009 to 2018 as the research sample to empirically test the hypothesis of correlation, and the results show that: (1) Incremental innovation has a significant positive effect on both government subsidies and new venture growth; (2) Government subsidies have a significant positive effect on new venture growth and play a partial mediating role in the relationship between enterprises incremental innovation behavior and new venture growth; and (3) Media coverage positively moderates the relationship between incremental innovation and government subsidies, that is, there is a signal transmission phenomenon among start-ups, government departments, and external investors.

The sharing economy represented by Airbnb has evolved rapidly. It is particularly important to identify and understand how consumer concerns change over time. As a result, this study employs structural topic modelling using room type and time as covariates to extract topics from 896,658 Airbnb reviews in London and to observe the variation in the prevalence of topics over time. The findings show that the topic proportion changed relatively sharply in the early years of Airbnb (2010-2013) and during the COVID-19 pandemic (2020-2022), but relatively smoothly in the middle period (2014-2019). This research also discovered that the proportion of topics on customers' special experiences has been decreasing while the proportion of topics on their overall experience has been increasing. This shift could be attributed to an increase in the number of professional hosts, which has accelerated the standardisation of the Airbnb service.

Online consumer reviews have been shown to play an important role that can influence consumers' attitudes, behaviors, and purchasing decisions. This study seeks to understand factors that affect user intention to use online consumer reviews. To examine this area, this paper theorizes multiple constructs that may influence intention to use. The subjects in this study were 466 online Vietnamese consumers. The data were analyzed using structural equation modeling, and five of the seven hypotheses were found to be significant. This study found several results not found in prior studies. The construct perceived online review importance is found to be important in influencing intention to use online reviews. Both perceived usefulness and perceived credibility influenced consumers' perceptions on the importance of online reviews. The study findings contribute to the research field of online consumer reviews and provide new insights into intention to use online consumer reviews for a developing country, different from prior studies that have focused on developed countries.

Digital transformation has become an important channel for firms to build a competitive advantage in the digital economy. However, user participation, an important source of external knowledge for firms, has received limited attention in research related to digital transformation. Drawing on the knowledge-based view, the study uses a sample of 247 Chinese firms to investigate the impact of digital transformation on firm performance. The study examines the mediating role of user participation between digital transformation and firm performance and the moderating role of both environmental dynamics and absorptive capacity on the relationship between user participation and firm performance. Findings herein encourage digital transformation firms to pay attention to user participation, strengthen their ability to establish good relationships with users, improve their ability to absorb their knowledge, and make a strong effort to cultivate digital users.

The Marketing 4.0 phenomenon has drawn positive attention recently due to digitization and the need for upgraded frameworks. It was recently proposed with four components: brand identity, brand image, brand integrity, and brand interaction (4i). Brand interaction caters to the latest digitization trends in the industry. This study applies the Marketing 4.0 framework in a cross-national emerging economy context. It proposes a model that examines the impact of Marketing 4.0 on the online customer experience (OCE) and online repurchase intention (ORPI). Five hundred twenty-eight online shoppers of the branded apparel segment from two emerging economies participated in the study. The findings indicate the validity of the adapted Marketing 4.0 scale across the samples. All the direct hypotheses are accepted except one proving the positive impact of Marketing 4.0 on the OCE and the ORPI. Furthermore, the OCE significantly mediates the relationships between Marketing 4.0 elements and the ORPI, except for brand interaction (BINT).

A number of countries are today implementing open government data (OGD) initiatives. Yet many of these initiatives are failing to attract the levels of continuous use they need to deliver an acceptable return on investment. This raises the obvious question of why this should be the case. To answer this question, it is important to understand the factors that most strongly influence user behaviour in OGD adoption. Qualitative data were used to identify the factors that play a key role in influencing the intention to engage with ODG. A quantitative approach was then used to evaluate the extent to which these factors drive/limit behaviour. The study's findings showed that there are four factors that play a significant role in intention to use OGD. It is also believed that the findings will be useful in helping policymakers in all jurisdictions formulate and implement strategies that successfully drive up continuous OGD engagement.

Suppliers and sellers play a crucial role in the ecommerce ecosystem. Sellers and ecommerce firms use social media to increase user engagement, visibility, and sales. Seller ratings are as important as the product ratings on ecommerce platforms to drive buying decisions. Based on sellers' actions on social media, this study examines seller turnover and disengagement on e-commerce platforms. The study has been supported by the justice theory. Seller reviews and ratings from e-commerce platforms and conversations from social media platforms have been gathered. Using natural language processing, machine learning, partial least squares (PLS) path analysis, and statistical inferences, objectives of the study are met. The study offers recommendations for both practitioners and researchers. The sellers must focus more on interaction and communication than marketing. Through a longitudinal analysis, the study also establishes that ecommerce organizations can use seller social media performance as a predictor of future seller churn and disengagement so they can take the necessary remedial action.

The popularity of social networking sites (SNSs) has increased rapidly. SNSs are a key part of daily life for many people around the world. The use of SNSs is already a global phenomenon. Drawing on social capital theory, this research empirically explored how structural capital (social network ties), relational capital (trust in SNSs, trust in members of SNSs, social identification, and social norms), and cognitive capital (shared language and shared goals) influence stickiness, which in turn affects addiction. This study introduced key moderators, privacy concerns and perceived security, to the relationship between stickiness and addiction. The authors empirically evaluated the proposed model by using survey data collected from SNS users. Structural equation modeling was applied to test the model. This study can provide a deeper understanding of SNS users' addiction behavior by focusing on social capital theory, privacy concerns, and perceived security and therefore contribute to both research and practice.

Artificial intelligence (AI) significantly revolutionizes and transforms the global healthcare industry by improving outcomes, increasing efficiency, and enhancing resource utilization. The applications of AI impact every aspect of healthcare operation, particularly resource allocation and capacity planning. This study proposes a multi-step AI-based framework and applies it to a real dataset to predict the length of stay (LOS) for hospitalized patients. The results show that the proposed framework can predict the LOS categories with an AUC of 0.85 and their actual LOS with a mean absolute error of 0.85 days. This framework can support decision-makers in healthcare facilities providing inpatient care to make better front-end operational decisions, such as resource capacity planning and scheduling decisions. Predicting LOS is pivotal in today's healthcare supply chain (HSC) systems where resources are scarce, and demand is abundant due to various global crises and pandemics. Thus, this research's findings have practical and theoretical implications in AI and HSC management.

This study examines the diverse environmental practices of multinational firms, the degree of digitalization among parent firms, and green innovation. Using data from multinational listed firms from 2007 to 2018 as a sample, this article uses regression analysis to show that the more widely distributed the subsidiaries of multinational firms, the more heterogeneous the environmental knowledge acquired by the parent firm. The more diverse the environmental practices, the worse the green innovation performance of the parent firm. The degree of digitalization of the parent firm can effectively mitigate this negative effect. The more digital the parent company is, the more quickly it can process the large amount of complex information that helps the parent firm to achieve green innovation. These findings provide a new perspective on innovation in firms.

This paper explores the dynamic path of business model innovation (BMI) driven by big data and builds a big data-driven BMI model based on ambidexterity perspective. Using the case study approach, this paper examines the ambidexterity theory and employs the structured-pragmatic-situational (SPS) research method to explore the BMI driven by big data. The findings are: 1) Companies could promote business innovation using big data from both exploratory and exploitative activities. 2) It is a dynamic process when the company promotes its BMI based on big data while balancing the ambidexterity activities. The paper illustrates the mechanism of ambidexterity for BMI driven by big data and sums up a theoretical model with general principles.

In recent years, the economic effects of the belt and road initiative have attracted much attention. However, few related studies have explored how this initiative affects the investment efficiency of enterprises. This article regards the ‘belt and road' initiative as a quasi-natural experiment and investigates its effects on the investment efficiency of Chinese enterprises. The difference in difference model was used based on data on Chinese listed companies in 2011-2018. According to the findings of this study, the belt and road initiative significantly increased the investment efficiency of Chinese enterprises. On this basis, this paper explores the paths with which the belt and road initiative affects the investment efficiency of Chinese enterprises from the perspectives of both environmental uncertainty and tax incentives. The mediating effect of environmental uncertainty between the belt and road initiative and the investment efficiency of Chinese enterprises assumes a significant “masking effect,” while the mediating effect of tax incentives between them is not obvious.

Industry 4.0 contributes to the virtualization of production system and enhances capabilities. However, the adoption process poses substantial challenges for SMEs in emerging markets due to institutional voids, resources, and public supports. This study explores the role of government in adopting Industry 4.0 by the SMEs and how organizational structure influences the process. It employed a quantitative approach and surveyed 225 managers. Industry 4.0 adoption is significantly influenced by government policy and subsidies. Government policy and subsidy transform organizational structure to be more transparent and flexible, streamlining them in adopting Industry 4.0. The organizational structure substantially mediates the relationships between government policy, subsidy, and Industry 4.0 adoption. This study implies that governments are vital in helping SMEs to adopt Industry 4.0 in emerging markets. Thus, governments should make policies that support technology adoption by offering sufficient funding/subsidies to boost innovation and technological transformation.

Cryptocurrencies have increasingly been traded against fiat currencies and as a result, governments globally have been trying to regulate these largely decentralized currencies. In this study, event study methodology has been used to evaluate the effect of regulatory announcements made by 25 countries. Based on cryptocurrency usage and returns of three major cryptocurrencies, namely Bitcoin, Ether, and XRP, this study finds that regulatory news results in significant abnormal returns for Bitcoin and Ether, but not for XRP. The authors find that irrespective of the type of news, abnormal returns are almost always negative. The countries have also been clustered based on their abnormal returns and it has been found that country characteristics such as income level, technological readiness and innovation potential affect the magnitude of abnormal returns. Thus, cryptocurrencies being global in essence, their regulatory oversight in countries do not exist in isolation, but they are also affected by the countries' development.

China has been actively developing wind power for several decades, and its installed capacity has grown rapidly, which can be largely attributed to the favorable policy support and subsidies provided to wind power investments. However, China's resource-based strategy for wind power layout may not be fully taking into account the information on electricity demand. Therefore, the authors aim to identify the key factors driving the regional distribution of wind power in China, with a particular focus on the relationship between wind farm investments and local electricity demand. The study reveals that, compared to earlier stages of development, wind power installation growth is now more concentrated in regions with high electricity demand rather than just in resource-rich areas. Moreover, the model results demonstrate that the leading effect of demand on wind investment is more pronounced in resource-rich regions than in other areas. Demand information and mechanism analysis highlight the significant role of zoning policies in moderating the impact of demand on wind power siting and investment.

This study examines the use of information and communications technology (ICT) in remote work practice during the COVID-19 pandemic by integrating task-technology fit theory and the post-acceptance model of IS continuance into a research framework. In addition, it operationalizes the technological characteristics of TTF (task-technology fit) with the technology acceptance model (TAM) and the diffusion of innovation (DOI) theory. The methodology to test the research model takes support from the partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) method using a sample of 320 employees. The results show that TAM significantly explains TTF. Furthermore, there is a positive impact of ICT use on individual and organizational performance. User satisfaction has the most significant effect on individual performance, organizational performance, and IS continuance intention. The authors provide some managerial implications for addressing the challenges of remote work related to ICT disruptions for the post-COVID-19 period.

Online reviews have a continuing impact across all industries. Even industries with highly skilled workers are affected by online reviews, despite large gaps in experience and skill between reviewers and reviewees. The authors conducted a study amongst physicians in Nevada and China to measure the perception of online patient reviews from the perspective of healthcare providers to explore whether this skill gap affected the perception of online reviews. The authors distributed and collected survey responses from over 200 physicians and used structural equation modeling techniques to evaluate the relationships. These findings show that physician perception of online patient reviews is partially mediated by power distance, direct effects exist between the relationships identified in our model, and that cross-cultural effects are present between physician responses across Nevada and China. This study expands the existing work in the field of review evaluations by operationalizing social-psychological distance into the construct of power distance within the context of healthcare.

The prevalence of social media has inspired multiple researchers to investigate the value of information on various platforms. However, most studies focus on integrating individual views (the wisdom of the crowd), and few studies investigate just one person's effect. To close this gap, this article investigates the impact of Trump's tweets on stock markets. Based on intraday stock market data, this study uses an event study to test the immediate reaction of the stock markets in both the Chinese and U.S. markets. Next, with ordinary least squares (OLS) regression, this study testes the effect of tweets' content features on the returns and volatility of the Chinese and U.S. indices. The results show that Trump's tweets impacted the financial market, especially the returns of the U.S. stock market during the COVID-19 pandemic. With additional analyses based on industry indices and time frequencies, the researchers found that Trump's sentiment on Twitter affected the Chinese financial industry during the trade war and impacted the Chinese pharmaceutical industry during the pandemic.

On-demand home service application (HSA) is a technological advancement that has brought various day-to-day services to our doorstep with just a few clicks. By using consumer-perceived values (utilitarian, hedonic, and social), trust transfer theory, and commitment-trust theory, the present study aims to investigate the factors influencing sharing intention and repurchase intention of consumers towards using HSAs on their mobile phones. This study involves collecting data from 357 respondents in India and analyzing the same using the SmartPLS 3 software. The results indicate that trust in HSA is influenced by utilitarian value and social value, but not by hedonic value. Trust in HSA results in repurchase intention, commitment, and sharing intention. Interestingly, trust in the user community affects sharing intention but not repurchase intention and commitment. The study integrates the consumer-perceived value, trust transfer theory, and commitment-trust theory to build an integrative framework that explains the consumers' sharing and repurchase intentions towards HSAs.

Consumers' demand for fresh agricultural products (FAPs) and their quality requirements are increasing in the current agricultural-product consumption market. FAPs' unique perishability and short shelf-life features mean a high level of delivery efficiency is required to ensure their freshness and quality. However, consumers' demand for FAPs is contingent and geographically dispersed. Therefore, the conflicting relationship between the costs associated with the logistics distribution and the level of delivery quality is important to consider. In this paper, the authors consider a fresh agricultural-product distribution path planning problem with time windows (FAPDPPPTW). To address the FAPDPPPTW under demand uncertainty, a mixed-integer linear programming model based on robust optimization is proposed. Moreover, a particle swarm optimization algorithm combined with a variable neighborhood search is designed to solve the proposed mathematical model. The numerical experiment results show the robustness and fast convergence of the algorithm.

The electric vehicle (EV) market is booming, but EV market trends vary by region. This study draws on the environmental, economic, and human development factors of 31 countries to predict sales of EVs. Based on machine learning (ML) algorithms and the PLS method, the authors constructed an EV sales performance prediction model and carried out the experiments. The experimental results demonstrate that ML algorithms can effectively achieve the desired accuracy and predictive performance levels. At the same time, this study investigates the relationship between quality training indicators and EV sales. CO2 emissions, PM2.5, consumer price index (CPI), renewable energy, and life expectancy are found to be significantly positive related to EV sales. The proposed model can be used globally by governments as a decision support tool to impose policies encouraging the adoption of EVs and develop sustainable strategies.

This research presents the contribution of profitability and asset utilization to a firm's value generation from a financial market viewpoint via slack-based measure network data envelopment analysis (SBM-NDEA). Despite its superiority in performance measurement, SBM-NDEA has a limitation when confronted with new added datasets as it lacks predictive ability. To overcome this, the authors integrate twin support vector machine into it. A manager's attitude toward risks also plays an essential role in efficiency improvement and value generation, but numerical messages do not convey such information. Textual messages with elastic natures thus bring information beyond just numerical messages. To assist users in quantifying risk types, the authors introduced an advanced text analyzer to conjecture a manager's attitude toward each risk. The results show that the performance evaluation model with forecasting capability can shift the manager's role from monitoring the past to planning the future. This study also demonstrates that the model with textual information reaches superior forecasting performance.

Indian agricultural value chains are marred with a lack of financial inclusion of smallholder farmers, lengthy payout times, poor quality of products, lack of traceability issues, and lack of industrialization in the value chain. Social entrepreneurs have indispensable tools as information and communication technologies are making inroads in rural developing economies. This study studies the impact of technological capabilities on social entrepreneurship for creating sustainable value creation using survey data from 557 respondents associated with farming and allied activities. The results highlight that digital technology capabilities mediate the relationship between social entrepreneurship and sustainable value creation. The findings present essential insights for academia, practitioners, and policymakers to better shape policies and decisions on social entrepreneurship.

In the era of bring-your-own-device and general data protection regulation, corporate network managers have limited control over the non-corporate-owned devices connected onto their corporation's network. However, they are principally responsible for the consequent liabilities that may accrue from breaches of individual consumers' privacy traceable to the network. Hence, this study revisits the notion of information-privacy at the point of contact between an individual end user and the smart-apps that the end user employs. The authors examine the impacts of inattention on consumers' behavioral reactions to perceived smart-app privacy concerns. The authors find that inattention's effects on consumers' behavioral reactions, especially pertaining to re-examination and modification of an app's default permissions settings, is significant. Forewarning has significant impacts on mitigating inattention and altering consumers' behavioral reactions pertaining to re-examination and modification of an app's default permissions settings. Implications of these findings on corporate privacy management are discussed.

Research analyzing the growing, worrisome phenomenon of cyberbullying in social network sites (SNSs) tends to adopt a cognitive perspective. This study instead investigates SNS envy, an essential emotion often experienced by users, and its relationship with cyberbullying intentions. The authors apply appraisal theory of emotion as a framework to conceptualize the effects of SNS envy, then propose two competing views: a direct effect premised in general strain theory and an indirect effect rooted in moral disengagement theory. The examinations of these competing views use survey data gathered from Facebook. The results support the indirect but not the direct effect, suggesting that envy influences cyberbullying intentions through moral disengagement. This study explicates how envious users rationalize their cyberbullying behaviors by cognitively reinterpreting existing perceptions of the advantages exhibited by envied others in a SNS, which reveals the importance of considering negative emotions to explain the unsettling cyberbullying phenomenon more fully.

Through innovative application of the multi-regional input-output model (MRIO) and spatial econometric methods, this paper investigates the trends, scale, and environmental impacts of China's industrial relocation, providing new information from an input-output perspective. The findings indicate that the relocation of China's industrial sector has exhibited a distinctive trend of moving “westward” and “northward,” while the service sector has demonstrated a tendency to cluster in several developed regions. Moreover, the authors have identified that the energy efficiency in net inflow regions and other regions is affected differently by industrial relocation. Specifically, the net inflow of the industrial sector positively impacts the energy intensity of local provinces, but negatively affects neighboring provinces. Conversely, the net inflow of the service sector has the opposite effect. The research enriches the understanding of China's industrial relocation and provides targeted implications to further prove the high-quality of China's industrial relocation.

The knowledge management process (KMP) requires continuous enhancement and is closely intertwined with the corresponding organizational business processes (BPs). Despite efforts to improve the integration of KMP and BPs, many knowledge management practices are ineffective due to the organizations' failure to incorporate their KMP with BPs. The lack of a structured approach to automate KMP improvement, driven by BP changes, is a major challenge. This study presents a BP-driven KMP modeling methodology, which has been employed in an aviation manufacturing enterprise's design institute to assist its KMP. The evaluation findings reveal that the approach can effectively facilitate the integration of BPs and KMP, as well as achieve BP-driven automation, ensuring the KMP's dynamic and continuous improvement. By incorporating this approach, organizations can automate their KMP improvement and respond to changes in their BPs more effectively, thereby improving their overall performance and competitiveness.

Fostering pro-environmental behaviors (PEBs) among the young generation is imperative. Based on a micro-survey of Chinese college students, the authors used Logit and ordered Logit model to obtain empirical information on perceived past environmental quality and current PEBs. The authors found that environmental improvement positively impacted various PEBs, including green travel, plastic bag use, garbage sorting, and energy conservation. Better perceived environmental quality leads to increased environmental expectations, motivation to adopt PEBs, and awareness of environmental responsibility. The positive effect is more pronounced for individuals engaged in environmental protection activities, familiar with environmental advocacy, and with a family consensus on environmental protection. These findings were corroborated through robustness tests of alternative methods, samples, and measures. There is a positive feedback loop between a sustainable environment and human behavior. Policy recommendations are offered to further strengthen this symbiotic relationship.

Finding the balance between economy and low emission of an integrated energy system (IES) has become one of the current research hotspots. This article introduces the carbon tax and carbon capture (storage) technology within the framework of the IES model. The IES comprises of components such as combined heat and power units equipped with carbon capture facilities, wind power generators, photovoltaic panels, and energy storage systems. The objective function of the model is the minimization of operational costs. Low-carbon economic operation dispatching problem under the constraints of energy conversion, energy balance, and operation cost is studied based on a mix-integer linear programming model. Through sensitivity analysis, this study explores the impact of varying carbon tax levels on the operational costs and emissions of an IES while considering peak and valley price differences. The emission reduction potential of the IES under different policy and technology scenarios is also estimated.

Electric vehicles are expected to become a major means of transportation in the future, but entail the challenge of collecting used electric vehicle batteries. This article examines pricing strategies in a closed-loop dual-channel supply chain for electric vehicle batteries both with and without a governmental reward and punishment mechanism. The discussion considers the optimal pricing strategy considering the competition between dual collecting channels, both with the government's reward and punishment mechanism and without it. The degree of influence of government mechanisms, echelon utilization, and EV battery collection on a) collection price, b) collection capacity, and c) the profit obtained by participants are also examined. The discussion shows that collection capacity, collection price, and recycler profits in the closed-loop EV battery supply chain could be improved with a government reward and punishment mechanism. Finally, the robustness of the proposed model was verified through numerical examples.

Enterprise social media (ESM) technologies are increasingly adopted by organizations to improve organizational processes. Since ESM can afford high communication visibility, employees may be afraid of being supervised. Drawing from self-determination theory, this paper examined how communication visibility moderates the process from two types of motivations (i.e., autonomous motivation and controlled motivation) to employees' subsequent participation provision. Factor-based structural equation modeling was used to analyze a recall-based sample, including 358 employees who are using an ESM tool named DingTalk, within their organizations. The results revealed that autonomous/controlled motivation could indirectly increase/decrease continuance participation intention by positive affect. Also, communication visibility can undermine the positive effects of autonomous motivation and then continuance participation intention. These findings suggest the necessity of stimulating ESM participation with autonomous motivation and balancing the communication visibility afforded by ESM.

Many studies have investigated the burnout model in Western societies but have ignored it in the Arab region. They have also found that the burnout model does not have clear cut dimensions. To fill this gap, the authors applied a modified version of the burnout model to college students in Kuwait to measure their satisfaction with an e-learning system during the Coronavirus pandemic. They survey 573 college-level students in Kuwait on their preference of online learning. The results indicated that the perceived workload and exhaustion (as a burnout variable) had more of an effect on dissatisfaction with e-learning than system quality. Further, they also found that dissatisfaction was negatively associated with e-learning acceptance.

The study aimed to use the Stimulus-Organism-Response (S-O-R) framework to investigate the connection between personal safety, digital literacy, and social influence on the adoption of m-payment apps in the post-COVID-19 scenario. The study adopts a mixed-method approach. Initially, semi-structured are conducted to identify the constructs. Subsequently, empirical analysis is carried out to establish the relationship between different constructs. In the framework of the present investigations, personal safety, digital literacy, and social influence as stimuli (S) that affect an individual's openness to change, which acts as organism (O), and in turn, it expresses an individual's willingness to adopt the services of m-payment apps (R). Through structural equation modeling, responses from 429 consumers are used to evaluate a model incorporating the S-O-R framework with mediator, moderator, and control variables. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between personal safety, social influence, digital literacy, and m-payment adoption. Openness to change partially mediated all the associations, while user involvement moderated the associations between digital literacy, openness to change, and m-payment adoption. One of the study's primary contributions is applying the S-O-R model in this context, along with mediating and moderating the influence of openness to change and user involvement. The study's results enrich our understanding of consumer behavior and actual practices post-COVID-19.

This article explores the usage of decentralised identity (DID) management using blockchain in global organisations to support secure usage of information resources. Blockchain as technology was initially introduced as a cryptocurrency and there have been challenges in its adoption for enterprise applications such as identity management. DID is emerging as one of the strong blockchain adoption use cases. Industry pioneers and users across domains have started exploring DID use cases, which help better protect their personal data and application access control as compared to traditional, central, or federated identity management models. In this exploratory work, the authors employ qualitative secondary case-based study research methodology to understand the challenges of the current digital identity management landscape and explore the possible benefits of DID as an emerging identity management paradigm. They propose a conceptual cube framework for analysing and studying various DID platforms thereby contributing to both the theory and practice of digitally secure identity.

There is widespread agreement that information systems are the lifeblood of the global economy, providing businesses with a crucial competitive edge in international markets and giving the world's governments and corporations of the 21st century the foundation they need to ensure the safety of their citizens and deliver superior services. Despite their importance, information systems face significant risks within and outside of the company. The best security methods can be circumvented by professional hackers, as the complexity of security attacks, the number of vulnerabilities, and the absence of implementation of quality information security management within companies have expanded substantially in recent years. For the sake of this discussion, the authors examine several security paradigms designed by scientists to protect the operations of multinational corporations.

The main novelty of this paper is proposing artificial intelligence (AI) to manage behavioural biases in the financial decision-making process. An empirical study by Kahneman and Tversky identifies the evidence of behavioural biases in the investment decision-making process: a reversal of an established tenet in traditional finance. Financial planners are vulnerable to behavioural biases and are therefore unable to provide optimal investment solutions for their clients. Identifying the limitations of current practice, this research attempts to address how AI can help financial planners in subduing their behavioural biases and proposes the adoption of AI in financial planning services to circumvent behavioural biases. In recent years, AI has attained significant efficacy and has proven to be efficacious through supervised and unsupervised learning. Applying these AI techniques in mitigating behavioural biases, this study confirms that the backpropagation within the neural network and deep reinforcement learning can help overcome confirmation and hindsight biases.

Virtual worlds are progressing toward a holistic abstraction of the metaverse. While there is abundant literature and synthesis on virtual worlds and related constructs, the linkages between above scholarly work and the “metaverse” are scarce. This research study addresses this gap by focusing on three specific research pursuits: a comprehensive definition of the metaverse that subsumes virtual world literature and looks at the metaverse as a sociotechnical stack, exploring the design elements of the metaverse, and a synthesis of future research direction associated with metaverse. For achieving the above goals, a hybrid research methodology comprising bibliometric analysis and a rigorous qualitative analysis of case studies across four major metaverse players with varied end goals was employed. The interpretive qualitative analysis was further distilled by mapping the emergent themes to the theoretical lens of affordances. This work presents a novel framework of metaverse design, establishing theoretical linkages between the sociotechnical fabric and applications of the metaverse.

More and more brands are utilizing online word-of-mouth recommendations to promote their products and using product ingredients more widely in marketing communications. However, no research has explored how recommendation terms (ingredient vs. function) for functional products affects consumers' attitudes. Through one pilot study and four experiments, it was found that consumers hold the lay belief that “ingredient = professional.” For functional products, consumers' purchase intentions and product evaluations are higher when ingredient (vs. function) are labelled, with perceived trustworthiness playing a mediating role. In addition, the domain knowledge of the information sender moderates the focal effect. Theoretically, this research contributes to the literature on both lay beliefs and word-of-mouth marketing by proposing a new lay belief, and by exploring the effect of recommendation terms on consumers' attitudes. Practically, this research can guide marketers in the appropriate use of product ingredient for word-of-mouth marketing.

Using a panel smooth conversion model, data of listed companies in the Chinese A-stock market and the digital inclusive finance index from 2011 to 2018 are used to empirically test the nonlinear impact and heterogeneity of digital inclusive finance on corporate technological innovation. The results show the following: First, the development of digital inclusive finance has a nonlinear effect of first promoting and then inhibiting the technological innovation of enterprises. Second, the nonlinear impact of digital inclusive finance development on the technological innovation of SMEs is more obvious. Finally, in the subdivision dimension of digital inclusive finance, the depth of use has a significant positive effect on the technological innovation of enterprises, the breadth of coverage has a significant inhibitory effect on the impact of enterprise innovation, and the degree of digitization is realized as an inverted U-shaped relationship that first rises and then falls.

The article expects to solve the traditional econometric statistical model, shallow machine learning algorithm, and many limitations in learning the nonlinear relationship of related indicators affecting commodity futures price trend. This article proposes a neural network commodity futures price prediction model by the mixture of convolutional neural networks (CNN) and gated recurrent unit (GRU). Firstly, the dimension reduction algorithm of multidimensional data by principal component analysis (PCA) is used. Through linear transformation, the original variables with correlation are transformed into a set of new linear irrelevant variables, and the high-dimensional time series data of commodity futures are reduced. Secondly, the variable features are extracted from the CNN network module in the CNN-GRU model, and the GRU network module learns the periodicity and trend of the original data. Finally, the full connection layer outputs the forecast results of commodity futures price.

In response to the rising power of electronic word of mouth (eWOM), marketers are gradually placing importance on the effects of their marketing strategies. The main objective of the study is to use both secondary as well as primary data to investigate the relationship and interaction between eWOM and online pricing. This study took BizRate UK, a price comparison website, as the database to investigate 100 mobile phone and tablet products and conducted interviews with online shoppers and managers from online retailers. After applying the test from quantitative methodologies, the result indicated the positive and negative reviews from online shoppers had an effect on pricing performance. Two types of reviews can be sorted out in a specific way as well. Finally, because the subject covers both quantitative (pricing) and qualitative (eWOM) aspects, future studies that are interested in this area should still apply the two methodologies for more accurate investigation.

This study examines agricultural total factor productivity (TFP) from theoretical and empirical perspectives. Specifically, the measures, relevant data, and major sources of the TFP growth are discussed. Using the sector-level growth and productivity data from the EU KLEMS, EUROSTAT, FAOSTAT, and USDA databases, the TFP growth in the EU countries over 1996–2019 is considered. The sources of the TFP growth are analyzed. The results suggest that agricultural TFP increased in almost all EU countries over the period covered. TFP growth appears as an important component of labour productivity and value-added growth in the EU agriculture. The differences among the databases considered are noted in the sense of input and output levels and TFP growth rates.

The rapid economic development is inevitably accompanied with resource depletion and environment degradation. To understand the status of material metabolism and identify effective solutions for environmental protection in China, this study develops a novel and standardized methodology for accounting regional material flows. Compared with previous studies, the proposed methodology takes renewable energy into consideration and provides a more accurate estimation method for non-metallic minerals used for construction. Then, the proposed approach is used to assess the material metabolism of four municipalities in China during 1997-2017. The results show that the domestic extraction and domestic processed output experience an increasing trend and then appear to decrease at the end of study period. Furthermore, Chongqing consumes the largest amount of material with lowest resource utilization efficiency, while Shanghai is predicted to enjoy a generally decline in domestic material consumption per capita. Finally, some policy implications are achieved for sustainable development in China.

This study examines the impact of government social media accounts (GSMAs) on public engagement in policy agendas. Data were collected from two similar GSMAs in policy fields and analyzed using Granger causality test and text analysis. The results show that the quality of information interaction has a positive impact on public engagement, and more direct ways of disseminating information result in a greater positive impact. The study highlights the importance of avoiding irrelevant information and managing the information conveyed through GSMAs. The results also suggest that citizens prefer more accessible and open environments for exchanging information, and governments should consider these preferences when communicating with the public. This study provides insights into the strategic use of GSMAs in promoting policy agendas and the role of information quality and relevance in promoting public engagement.

Regional innovation capability is considered an important driving force for the sustainable and high-quality development of regional economy. Therefore, data-driven evaluation method of regional innovation capability is proposed. First, the article collects regional innovation development statistics; second, min-max standardization method is used for dimensionless data processing, and anti-entropy method is used to calculate index weight; third, a composite system synergy degree model for objective and quantitative evaluation is built; finally, using Anhui Province as an example, the feasibility of the method was verified . The results indicate that the order and synergy degree of the innovation input and innovation output subsystems of Anhui Province have shown an upward trend from 2010 to 2019. However, innovation output has not been synchronized with innovation input. Therefore, suggestions for improving Anhui's regional innovation capability are proposed. This study provides theoretical and methodological support for evaluating and optimizing regional innovation capability.

The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has brought severe challenges to global economic development and government management. According to a report on the United Nations News website (news. un. org), as of May 3, 2023, the cumulative number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 worldwide has reached 765 million, and more than 6 million people have lost their lives as a result. How to evaluate the effect of government management has become a key issue. In this research, the SEIR model is used to estimate the network average degree of Chinese cities under network limitation. The results show that government management has reduced the average degree of the COVID-19 network and the prevention of first-tier cities will be more difficult. This study scientifically evaluates the government management of the epidemic and provides ideas for emergency management of infectious diseases that affect the public.

Green economy has been paid more and more attention in the information age. Informatization plays an important role in the development of green economy by the transmission of industrial structure rationalization and upgrading. Because of the spatial mobility of information, it is necessary to study the spatial spillover effect of information on the efficiency of green economy. In this article, the non-radial directional distance function and the comprehensive index method are used to evaluate the efficiency of green economy and informatization respectively. On this basis, the spatial characteristics of the two are analyzed. Finally, the spatial econometric model is used to analyze the spatial impact of informatization on the efficiency of green economy. The authors find that: (i)The spatial distribution of the green economy efficiency and informatization are unbalanced; (ii) There is a significant spatial spillover effect in the efficiency of green economy; and (iii) The development of informatization plays an important impact on the efficiency of green economy.

The Five-Year Plan (FYP) in China guides the social and economic development. The features of ecology-related vocabularies in national and regional FYPs help to study China's emphasis and focus on ecological civilization. In this paper, a multi-phrase dictionary with syntactic and semantic features is constructed to analyze the features and trends of ecology-related vocabularies through social network and phrase topic model. Then, based on studies on the 13th and 14th FYPs of China and 31 provinces and cities, it is found that remarkable different stage definitions and tasks of ecological civilization construction are proposed according to different description vocabularies, with more pragmatic measures to fulfill its “carbon” target in 2030 as a duty-bound responsibility and mission to cope with climate change. The research ideas and methods in this paper can provide references for similar policy text analysis, and the conclusions from empirical studies are helpful to grasp the focus and trends of ecological civilization-related policies in China and various provinces and cities.

The Republic and Canton of Jura has decided to adopt and integrate the CERTUS digital seal and the KSI blockchain as the central technological components of their e-government portal and of their digital government transformation program. However, this project is taking place in turbulent times. While blockchain suffers from a bad reputation for ecological reasons and while the Swiss Confederation has rejected the selected blockchain solution, this article seeks to answer how to grasp the paradoxes of blockchain technologies acceptance by state citizens in an extreme management situation. Through an action research that aims to solve practical problems and create scientific knowledge, this study highlights the paradox of trust and considers blockchain technologies to enhance trust between citizens in politically stable countries. Furthermore, it investigates the paradox of transparency of blockchain technologies in an extreme management situation and proposes communicating in two levels of abstraction to limit tensions in turbulent times.

Pre-digital organizations were established before the digital and collaborative economy. Faced with this new economy, they are carrying out organizational transformation projects that involve significant changes in tasks, working conditions, and employee well-being. A positive emotional climate can support these digital transformations. Companies have therefore developed specific change management practices focusing on happiness at work to support these digital transformation programs of work practices. This research explores the role of happiness management as a change management practice for digital transformation. Using a multiple case study method, it illustrates how happiness management practices are enacted in three French pre-digital organizations from different industries. It identifies characteristics of happiness management mobilized differently by each organization. Some combinations of these characteristics and employees' control perceptions are shown to lead to a positive emotional climate which in turn affects the success of digital workplace transformations.

The advent of the COVID-19 pandemic augmented the propensity for fake news globally. Today, over 90% of the global population depends on the internet for information. However, there is an enormous difference in fake news propensity in different countries. Thus, one must understand what factors influence the propensity for fake news during the COVID-19 crisis. Leveraging prior literature on fake news, the authors theorize the relationship between human and economic development and fake news propensity within nations. They analyzed the proposed model on a dataset generated from 104 countries. The research finds that a level of human development did not affect a nation's fake news propensity, while a higher level of economic development curbed its fake news propensity. This research extends prior IS research on fake news at the macro level and aims to better inform governments and policymakers in designing future crisis-proof policies to curb fake news.

Contact tracing applications (CTAs) have been presented as important tools in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. In France, the government developed the ‘StopCovid' CTA which later became ‘TousAntiCovid.' This research aims at understanding the determinants of the use of this CTA and of the intention to integrate the health pass. To do that, this study focuses on the perceived value of its use based on the privacy calculus theory. A quantitative study was conducted using a sample of 779 French people. The results show that the use of the CTA and the intention to integrate the health pass are influenced, as hypothesized, by perceived value, distrust towards the government, and personal innovativeness. Perceived value is positively influenced by social and individual benefits, as well as social influence, and, to a lesser extent, negatively influenced by social risks but not by individual risks.

Using a sample of 848 workers in France, this article aims to explain problematic smartphone dependency, a behavior considered to have negative consequences for sufferers in the context of work. It examines whether and how addictive pleasure at work is related to problematic smartphone dependency (PSD). The authors propose a model with the originality of an exploratory measure of what is conceptualized as a mobile personal information system (PIS) development. The results obtained are paradoxical in that addictive pleasure at work is negatively correlated with PSD, although it positively contributes to the development of a PIS, the latter being itself positively correlated to gratifications. However, PIS development is not positively correlated to PSD. It is plausible that, although addictive pleasure at work drives the development of mobile PIS, it also provides an escape from compulsive smartphone usage, thus mitigating PSD. These findings also highlight the protecting role of mindfulness against PSD.

The aim of this article is to better understand the role of telework in resilience during the pandemic. The authors analyze the results from five online surveys from March 2020 to February 2021. The corpus results from the compilation of different sources: written reports on March 2020, a narrative survey on April 2020, a quantitative survey on May 2020, a second narrative survey on December 2020, and finally, three focus groups on February 2021. Thus, the transcription of 1,299 managers is studied following the textual data analysis methods. The findings indicate that the role of telework differs according to whether the resilience is individual or collective. It also changes over time and differs according to the process of resilience which the authors propose to divide into three phases: preventive resilience (before the disaster), reactive resilience (during the disaster), and curative resilience (after the disaster). The authors use the results of the resilience study to discuss implications for the development of telework as a digital tool and practice.

The global health crisis represents an unprecedented opportunity for the development of artificial intelligence (AI) solutions. This article aims to tackle part of the biases in artificial intelligence by implementing a human-centric AI to help decision-makers in organizations. It relies on the results of two design science research (DSR) projects: SCHOPPER and VRAILEXIA. These two design projects operationalize the human-centric AI approach with two complementary stages: 1) the first installs a human-in-loop informed design process, and 2) the second implements a usage architecture that aggregates AI and humans. The proposed framework offers many advantages such as permitting to integrate of human knowledge into the design and training of the AI, providing humans with an understandable explanation of their predictions, and driving the advent of augmented intelligence that can turn algorithms into a powerful counterweight to human decision-making errors and humans as a counterweight to AI biases.

Bounded rationality prevents firms from achieving their full potential. However, intelligent solutions can help eliminate bias in decision making. This study examines whether biases diminish or disappear when novel and powerful digital resources, such as big data analytics, are applied in management practice. The authors use a massive matched database of 1,942 large Chinese firms to find significant and positive effects of data processing frequency on high-level metrics of rational decision-making outcomes, such as productivity and profitability. Moreover, the increase in between-firm variance is the result of both differences in firm characteristics and a widening gap in their workflows and coordinating mechanisms. Heterogeneity can effectively explain 13.18% of the marginal effect of big data analytics on firm metrics, such as productivity and profitability. The results also indicate that the human capital of the C-suite partially mediates the link between big data analytics and firm performance.

The paper analyzes the agglomeration of China's OFDI across 35 industries in 43 countries from 2014 to 2019 to provide a characterization of China's international production system and its dynamic changes. It examines how digital service trade barriers and regulatory heterogeneity impact China's OFDI agglomeration. The paper finds that China's OFDI distribution shows a trend of agglomerating at the host country-industry level year by year, especially in capital-intensive and technology-intensive industries. Empirical results indicate that digital services trade barriers significantly hinder the agglomeration of China's OFDI. Digital service trade barriers negatively affect OFDI agglomeration in technology-intensive industries and positively affect it in labor-intensive industries. Deconstructing digital service trade barriers in different policy areas, the paper finds that the negative impact of infrastructure and connectivity and intellectual property rights is greater than that in electronic transactions, while the impact of barriers in the payment system is not significant.

In the era of the digital economy, cross-border e-commerce is a specific embodiment of “internet plus international trade.” Based on the promoting policy of “The product lists of cross-border e-commerce retail imports” and Chinese customs transaction data, this study uses a difference-in-differences methodology to analyze the effects of cross-border e-commerce on China's import trade. The results show that the implementation of the cross-border e-commerce policy has significantly contributed to the growth of import value, price, and quantity. The promoting effects mainly derive from the intensive margin of imports and the extensive margins of importing source countries. Digital technology and development determine the policy's effectiveness. The heterogeneous effects of import source countries and domestic import regions imply an enlarging inequality effect from cross-border e-commerce and the digital economy.

Based on the panel data of 29 provinces and cities in China from 2013 to 2020, the mediating effect model and the moderating effect model are used to empirically analyze the transmission role of technological innovation and industrial structure optimization in the digital economy influencing the green transformation of manufacturing industry, and the moderating role of environmental regulation in the digital economy promoting the green transformation of the manufacturing industry. The results of the empirical study show that the digital economy promotes the green transformation of the manufacturing industry through technological innovation and industrial structure optimization. On the other hand, the intensity of environmental regulation has a significant negative moderating effect on the green transformation of the manufacturing industry promoted by the digital economy.

The results show that overall, digital economic development significantly improves the employment scale of listed companies in China. The development of the digital economy has significantly increased the share of high-skilled labor, medium- and high-skilled labor, and decreased the share of low- and medium-skilled labor and low-skilled labor. In employment positions, the development of the digital economy significantly increases the share of openings in accounting, sales, and other positions, especially in R&D. Furthermore, the employment creation effect of digital economic development is attributed to the effects of scale expansion and productivity, while the substitution of digital technology for low-skilled labor does not significantly hinder employment. The study has important implications for the digital economy and employment.

As the “pearl at the top of the manufacturing industry,” the widespread use of robots is affecting the employment decisions of individual workers. This paper contributes to our understanding of this subject by analyzing the impact of imports of industrial robots on employment location choice at the inter-provinces level in China. The analysis applies a logit approach to microdata from the China Customs Database and China Labor Dynamics Survey. The results suggest that robot import positively affects employment location choice, supporting the theory of “coexistence” between intelligent robots and the labor force. Specifically, industrial robots attract skilled workers via the creation effect and drive away routine labor via the substitution effect, but the creation effect is greater than the substitution effect. Finally, the authors discuss the channels from the perspectives of “skill-biased” and “routine-biased.”

The information collection in the global governance of the digital economy is important to companies in response to COVID-19. This research studied the initiative of conflicts between privacy and information disclosure based on agency theory, analyzed the resolution of the conflicts based on incentive compatibility, and further discussed the rationale of the balance between private and public interest based on agile governance. This research suggests the necessity of finding the balance between public interest and privacy protection based on the hierarchical division of private and public interest. The dynamic psychological behavior to privacy and information disclosure by uninfected and infected citizens in response to COVID-19 is simulated by Volterra differential equations. The specification of boundaries in data use can be helpful to companies in reconciling the privacy and information disclosure for customer relationship management in digital governance in response to COVID-19.

Using combined data from the 2011–2013 China Industrial Firm Database, China Industrial Firm Pollution Emission Database, and provincial-level digital financial inclusion index, this paper investigates the impact of digital finance on firm pollution. The authors find that digital finance significantly reduces firm SO2 emission intensity. The inclusive finance attribute of digital finance is conducive to alleviating firm financing constraints and promoting firm transformation and emission reduction. Furthermore, digital finance reduces pollution through innovation compensation. Digital finance mainly affects private firms and small and medium-sized firms, while it mainly plays its role through depth of use, digital payments, and digital credit. The basic conclusions of this paper are verified by using the Internet development level and the spherical distance from Hangzhou, as instrumental variables. This paper has important policy implications for developing countries using digital financial tools to promote green economic transformation and high-quality development.

This article examines how high-speed internet development across Chinese provinces affects firm employment and average annual wages. The authors exploit a national policy reform by which the government launched a project to improve internet speed in 2000 and devise a difference-in-differences with a continuous treatment method for empirical identification. The authors first find that high-speed internet significantly increases employment and slightly reduces average wages. Specifically, after one percentage point increase in the number of fixed-line users per capita at the province level, there is a 0.14 percent increase in firm employment and a 0.06 percent decrease in average wages, respectively. Also, this paper shows that the gains and losses from high-speed internet on firm performance are likely to have risen from the higher probability of firm entry and the improvement of productivity in existing firms. Third, the authors find rich heterogeneity across firm ownership, size, and regional characteristics.

Cross-border e-commerce is becoming the driver of digital globalization and is of strategic importance in the growth of world trade. Under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, China has released a number of guidelines to accelerate the process of development regarding the cross-border e-commerce industry, including the Digital Silk Road project. However, the boosting of cross-border e-commerce is followed by challenges. This article investigates the main factors affecting the current situation with cross-border e-commerce within the 51 countries along route. Based on empirical analysis, it is concluded that logistics infrastructure has so far been the key factor for cross-border e-commerce's sustainable development. Thus, general suggestions are given, among which the priority belongs to improvement of the existing logistics infrastructure and construction of the new one. Several directions for future research in this area are recommended, such as exploration of new logistics mechanisms and schemes, based on digitalization and innovations.

This study empirically examines how digital M&A affects firm innovation using data from Chinese listed companies from 2006 to 2019. The results show that digital M&A promotes firm innovation, and our findings also suggest that digital M&A enables firms to break away from technology path-dependence to achieve radical innovation and digital innovation. The analysis of different types of digital M&A shows that the innovation effect of vertical digital M&A is smaller than that of horizontal digital M&A. Vertical digital M&A significantly increases industry concentration and may change the competitive structure of the market; the innovation effect of cross-border digital M&A is smaller than that of domestic digital M&A, which may be related to the negative moderating effect of cultural and institutional distance between China and the host country, as well as the restriction of cross-border data flow.

Digital transformation has become a new engine driving the development of enterprises. Based on the data of Chinese A-share listed manufacturing enterprises from 2008 to 2020, this paper measured the intensity of enterprise digital transformation with the help of machine learning method, and empirically investigated the impact mechanism of digital transformation on the quality of enterprise's internal control. It is found that digital transformation can significantly improve the quality of internal control. Mechanism analysis shows that digital transformation has a positive impact on the quality of internal control mainly by reducing agency costs and increasing the shareholding ratio of institutional investors. The results of heterogeneity analysis indicate that the promotion effect of digital transformation on the quality of internal control is more significant in enterprises with small scale and strong manager's ability. Digitization improves the total factor productivity of enterprises by promoting the quality of internal control.
